Wall Tiles from Morbi
Morbi's Products
Endless possibilities...this is what we can say for ceramic glazed wall tiles. There are thousands of designs possible in wall tiles. And companies in Morbi are really good at making new innovative design concepts for wall tiles. Please have a look at some of the wall tiles designs on right side bar.
There are around 216 factories in Morbi that manufacture ceramic glazed wall tiles.
Smaller, lighter, and thinner than floor tiles, most wall tiles are not meant to withstand high wear & tear. But their lightness is a plus for vertical installation and for cutting, and they come in a dazzling array of colors and textures. Mural tiles are generally made for walls.
Wall tiles are made by the dust-press method, and the machine-made precision of their shapes works pretty well with the clean lines of many contemporary designs. Usually wall tiles are set closely together, with thin grout lines -- often calibrated via built-in lug spacers on the tiles' edges.
Although white, gypsum-based tile bodies are generally nonvitreous, the glazing process makes their faces (but not their edges or backs) both water and stain resistant. Water-resistant backing, adhesive, and grout can improve performance, but for vulnerable locations like showers, floors, and exteriors in freezing climates, choose vitreous or impervious tiles (tiles made with waterproof engobe).

Now a days the difference between traditional ‘wall tiles’ and ‘art tiles’ is blurring, as contemporary wall tiles can take on both new colors and finishes of ‘art tile’.
Color ranges from pure white and ivory (beige) through soft pastels to blood red and dark blue.
Surface finishes can be glossy, matte, or textured, and glazes can have a wooden, metallic, leather or stone look instead of the traditional flat color.
(Tip: In general, the shinier the glaze, the more easily it's scratched.)
Some wall tiles are tough enough to be used as countertops. But check with the dealer to be sure the tile's surface can withstand both abrasion and chemicals (the acids in some foods, for example, can penetrate through certain glazes, especially those tiles with copper-based green pigment).
Common sizes for glazed wall tiles that are manufactured in Morbi include 8 by 12, 10 by 13, 10 by 16, 12 by 18 and 12 by 24 inches; larger squares and rectangles may also be available. These dimensions are nominal and may not be exactly accurate, so be sure to take precise measurements of the tiles you like. Nominal thickness is usually about 7 mm to 10 mm.
Prices range from as little as Rs. 8 /Sq Ft per commercial tile to Rs. 20 per square foot. Generally, the more tiles of a particular size, glaze, and ornamentation that are manufactured, the less each one will cost.
